The Obermais Chioggia trip was for the “fish”

On Sunday afternoon, FC Obermais played away against Union Clodiense, based in the lagoon city of Chioggia, in a Serie D match. The South Tyrolean side were unable to secure any points.

In the picturesque lagoon city of Chioggia, FC Obermais hoped to get back on track after two consecutive defeats. Ultimately, however, the trip to the Adriatic coast, home to northern Italy's largest fishing port, proved fruitless. Obermais lost 0-2 and also suffered the dismissal of Alex Demetz.

The player from Val Gardena was sent off after just 34 minutes with a second yellow card. At that point, the score in Chioggia was still 0-0, before two former FCS players secured the victory for the Serie C relegated side.

Two former FCS professionals meet – Gander makes his debut

At Clodiense, coach Roberto Vecchiato (who had only taken over during the week) celebrated a successful debut. The home side took the lead just before halftime. Roberto Candido (who played ten games for FC Südtirol in 2012/13) converted a handball penalty to give his team the lead. Shortly after the restart, Riccardo Bocalon (56th minute), who had also been in Südtirol with Candido (eight games, one goal), added another.
Alexander Gander (he came from the FCS youth sector in the summer) celebrated his league debut.

FC Obermais has few such top-class players in its squad. Instead, another young South Tyrolean, Alexander Gander (19), celebrated his Serie D debut on Sunday. The Vinschgau native played in defense alongside Demetz and Alex Debiasi.

The situation for Obermais in the league table is becoming increasingly critical – also because bottom-placed Calvi Noale won 2-1 against Conegliano. This leaves Obermais just one point above the relegation zone. Furthermore, league leaders Treviso visit Merano next week (Sunday, 2:30 pm).
