“This victory gives us confidence”

Alex Debiasi was one of the few Obermais players who knew Serie D more than just by hearsay. The defender had played a few minutes in Italy's fourth division with Virtus Bozen and knows exactly what awaits the Blue and Whites after their first win of the season.

Finally, it's done! FC Obermais secured its first win of the series on Wednesday. A dream goal from Manuel Brusco secured the Meran team's 1-0 against Adriese and thus the first three points of the season. "This first win in Serie D will help us enormously," predicts Alex Debiasi, adding: "The win gives us confidence, strengthens team spirit, and helps us continue to believe strongly in ourselves and our potential."

The central defender from Bolzano is the defensive leader at FCO. Debiasi moved from Lana to Obermais two years ago, having previously grown up at Virtus Bolzano. Together with goalkeeper Luca Tenderini and fellow central defenders Oliver Rohrer and Marco Paulmichl, Debiasi kept a clean sheet for the first time of the new season on Wednesday. "Finishing a game without conceding a goal is always satisfying for a central defender. But it was a team effort. Everyone gave their all, from the striker to the goalkeeper," said Debiasi.

Special thanks to the viewers

The 1-0 victory against Adriese, achieved in front of around 600 spectators at home on the Lahn River, is intended to be the start of a winning streak, according to Debiasi: "The win was an important step. But we know full well that the championship is long and we need consistency to survive in the league."

Debiasi had special thanks for the crowd in Obermais: "The fans' support was crucial. Playing in front of our fans, whether at home or away, always gives us an extra push. Especially when things get tough on the pitch, they give us energy and thus make the difference. For us, the spectators are our twelfth man in every respect."
