It was her third start for Italy: Eva Schatzer was given the nod in the starting lineup against the host nation to conclude the Azzurre's overseas tour. The Juve player put in a solid performance in central midfield for 63 minutes before being substituted by her teammate Giada Greggi.
However, even Schatzer couldn't prevent Italy's defeat. The Squadra Azzurra were beaten 0-2 by the favored Americans. Catarina Macario and Jaedyn Shaw scored the goals in the first half in front of nearly 10.000 spectators.
Nischler without deployment
Schatzer had already made a brief appearance last week in the first test match defeat against the USA (0-3). Nadine Nischler from Naturns, who plays for Serie A club Como and made her national team debut in October, was on the bench for both matches.Schatzer, Nischler and company are now returning to their clubs. The next international match isn't until March, with the qualifying games for the 2027 World Cup.
