At least, that's what the Spanish sports newspaper "Marca" reports. According to the report, Messi will essentially be able to decide for himself how long he will continue to play for co-owner David Beckham's club in Major League Soccer in the USA.
Messi will turn 2028 in the summer of 41. Another role at Inter after his career is also conceivable. A source did not name the name of "Marca." The Argentinian sports newspaper "Olé" also reported an offer until mid-2028, writing: "Everything indicates that he will continue playing in the pink jersey." Messi joined Inter in the summer of 2023. Before that, after 20 years at FC Barcelona, he had a two-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
World champion colleague for the feel-good atmosphere
It's well known that Inter intends to keep Messi at least through the 2026 World Cup season. The club's new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, will also open next year. A few weeks ago, however, wild speculation surfaced about an offer from Saudi Arabia. There, Inter's management is trying to create the best possible feel-good atmosphere for the world champion. His longtime national team colleague Javier Mascherano is now the team's coach, and Miami recently also signed Messi's compatriot Rodrigo de Paul from the 2022 World Cup team.
He's left it open whether Messi will defend his title with Argentina next year. However, it's likely he will. His current contract runs until the end of the year.
