A football world champion visits Kaltern

Recently, there was a surprise visit to Lake Kaltern: a world champion spent his vacation there.

A few bathers may have rubbed their eyes in surprise. Marco Materazzi was actually spending his vacation in Kaltern. Italy's 2006 World Cup winner spent a few days at the campsite at the famous bathing lake over the holidays. Naturally, some guests immediately noticed Materazzi, and so there was no shortage of selfies and snapshots.

The now 51-year-old is a figure in Italian football and became world-famous for one incident in particular. In the 2006 World Cup final, superstar Zinedine Zidane headbutted the central defender after provoking Materazzi. While Zidane was sent off with a red card, Materazzi went on to win the World Cup.
