Concerns about Heidenheim goalkeeper: “Health is the most important thing”

On Friday evening, FCH goalkeeper Kevin Müller lay motionless after a violent collision with an opponent. The day after, his teammates were filled with concern.

The concerns about Goalkeeper Kevin Müller from 1. FC Heidenheim Captain Patrick Mainka is more concerned with the situation than the relegation battle in the Bundesliga. "Health is our most important asset. Everything else is secondary," said the defensive leader after the 0-0 draw against bottom-placed VfL Bochum. "That's not something you want to see on the football pitch."

Shortly after halftime, the goalkeeper collided violently with Mainka and Bochum's Ibrahima Sissoko. According to his coach, Frank Schmidt, Müller was unconscious for a moment but then "quickly recovered." "But we had no contact, and I don't want to speculate," the coach said. After being stretchered off the field amid encouraging shouts of "Kevin Müller," Müller was taken directly to the hospital.

Four point lead

In the table, Heidenheim has kept its rivals at bay. They are four points ahead of their games at 1. FC Union Berlin and their final home match against SV Werder Bremen.

"We want to take this point; it's in our own hands – no matter what happens elsewhere this weekend," said Schmidt, who months ago had set the relegation play-off spot as FCH's goal. However, in addition to Müller, Sirlord Conteh and Leonardo Scienza are also at risk of being sidelined due to injury. They were also substituted early against Bochum.
