Di María's return to Benfica is almost perfect

The return of soccer world champion Ángel di María to Benfica Lisbon is practically perfect. The 35-year-old's move should be announced on Friday at the latest, as the trade magazine A Bola reports (Thursday).

Accordingly, the Argentine winger will receive a one-year contract with coach Roger Schmidt's team, which may include the option for a further year. Di María joins the Portuguese champions on a free transfer; his contract with Juventus expires at the end of the month.

Di María had already played for the Portuguese record champions from 2007 to 2010 and then moved to Real Madrid. The decisive factor for his return should now be, among other things, the whereabouts of his national team colleague Nicolás Otamendi. The captain recently extended his contract with Benfica until 2025. In addition, Di María's family is said to particularly like it in Lisbon, as the report continued.
