How will Inter and PSG line up in the final?

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will play for the most important title in club football on Saturday (21.00:XNUMX p.m.). Here's everything you need to know.

After 13 years, a Champions League final is taking place again at Munich's Allianz Arena, and it's also a clash of contrasts. Here are all the questions and answers.

Where can you watch the game?

ZDF will broadcast the final live on free TV. The pay-TV channels Canal+ and Sky will also show the final. 64.500 fans will be in attendance at the stadium.

Who is favorite?

The bookmakers see Paris ahead. The French side had a sluggish start to this Champions League season, only booking their ticket to the knockout phase on the final matchday of the main round against VfB Stuttgart. There, coach Luis Enrique's team subsequently eliminated three English teams (title favorites Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal), while Inter prevailed against Feyenoord Rotterdam, Bayern Munich, and FC Barcelona in the semifinals.

Which players are likely to be in focus?

For years, Paris relied on superstars as a key to success – to no avail. Kylian Mbappé left the club in the summer of 2024, and since then, the French club has been without a truly outstanding player. Now PSG is hoping to build a collective with hungry and talented youngsters like Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, João Neves, Warren Zaire-Emery, and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was signed in the winter. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma excelled in the semi-final against Arsenal. Inter, meanwhile, draws on the experience of players like Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Francesco Acerbi, while World Cup winner Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram are expected to lead the way up front. Austrian Bundesliga record-breaker Marko Arnautovic will take a seat on the bench.

What are the expected lineups?

How many times have PSG and Inter been in the final?

Paris Saint-Germain has only reached the final once in its history: In 2020, the first year of the coronavirus pandemic, the French team lost 0-1 to Bayern Munich in front of an empty stadium in Lisbon. Inter have considerably more experience competing for the European football crown: in 2010, with Arnautovic on the bench, they triumphed in the Champions League against Bayern, and in 2023 they suffered a final defeat to Manchester City. The Milanese won the European Cup, the predecessor of the competition, in 1964 and 1965, and reached the final in 1967 and 1972.

How many times has Munich hosted a final?

As in 2012, the city of Munich will host the biggest event in European club football. 13 years ago, the climax ended in a "drama dahoam" (at home) and FC Bayern Munich's final defeat to Chelsea FC on penalties. This will be the fifth time the final for Europe's football crown has been held in Bavaria's capital: in 1979, 1993, and 1997, the final was held at the Olympic Stadium.
