Eight goals in one half: Furious match between Juve and BVB

Borussia Dortmund drew with Juventus Turin in a completely crazy match to kick off the Champions League season. Coach Niko Kovac's team even surrendered a lead in stoppage time.

Although BVB remains unbeaten this season, the 4-4 final score is still disappointing given the course of the game. In front of 41.497 spectators in the atmospheric Juventus Stadium, Karim Adeyemi (52nd minute), Felix Nmecha (65th minute), Yan Couto (74th minute), and Karm Bensebaini (86th minute/penalty) scored the goals for BVB.

However, Kenan Yildiz (63'), Dusan Vlahovic (68'/90'+4'), and Lloyd Kelly (90'+6') each equalized for Turin. Dortmund is still waiting for its first win against the storied club since the glorious 3-1 victory in the 1997 Champions League final.

Real wins

Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso celebrated a successful Champions League debut as Real Madrid coach. Despite being outnumbered for more than half an hour, the Royal side prevailed 2-1 (1-1) against Olympique Marseille on Matchday 29. Two penalties from superstar Kylian Mbappé (81th and XNUMXst minutes) ultimately sealed the hard-fought victory.

Timothy Weah (22') gave Marseille a surprise lead following a mistake by Real Madrid's Arda Güler, but it was all the French runners-up could manage. This was despite the visitors having a man advantage for a long time following the red card of Dani Carvajal (72'/assault).

Benfica embarrasses itself

Tottenham Hotspur also got off to a successful start in the new Champions League season. Spurs won 1-0 (1-0) at home against Villarreal. An own goal by Villarreal goalkeeper Luiz Júnior (4th minute) sealed the victory early on.

Benfica Lisbon, on the other hand, got off to a terrible start against underdogs Qarabag FK from Azerbaijan. After an early 2-0 lead, Portugal's record champions ultimately lost 2-3 (2-1). Enzo Barrenechea (6') and Vangelis Pavlidis (16') had put the hosts in front. However, Leandro Andrade (30'), Camilo Duran (48'), and Oleksij Kashtschuk (86') then turned the game in favor of the visitors.
