The spectators in Frankfurt witnessed six goals. After Galatasaray took a 1-0 lead, the Germans celebrated three times within eight minutes before the break. The goal fest continued after the break, with Frankfurt ultimately winning 5-1. This puts Eintracht Frankfurt at the top of the table after the first matchday.
Bruges and Sporting follow behind. While the Portuguese side duly won 4-1 against the Kazakhs from Kairat Almaty, Bruges dealt a real blow to AS Monaco at home. The Belgians were already three goals ahead at halftime, with Ansu Fati scoring a consolation goal in the 91st minute.

Napoli's de Bruyne with bitter return
In Manchester, Kevin de Bruyne returned to the City Stadium. However, the game didn't go as planned for the Belgian, who had moved from Man City to Napoli in the summer. With Giovanni Di Lorenzo shown a red card after just 21 minutes, coach Antonio Conte took de Bruyne off for defender Matheus Oliveira (26th minute). Erling Haaland scored his 56th Champions League goal in the 50th minute, and Jeremy Doku sealed the final goal late on (65th minute).Champions League: Thursday’s matches
