Italy remains undefeated at U21 European Championship

Italy's U21 national team managed a draw with title contender Spain at the European Championship in Slovakia, but at the same time missed out on winning the group.

After two opening victories against Romania and Slovakia, the Azzurrini remained unbeaten in their 1-1 draw with Spain. They finished the group stage level on points with the Spanish side, but advanced to the quarterfinals in second place due to a worse goal difference.

Jesus Rodriguez gave Spain the lead in the 53rd minute. But just five minutes later, Niccolò Pasilli had the perfect response to Italy's first goal of the tournament. With a fine solo effort, the Roma midfielder sealed the eventual 1-1 final score.

Italy will now face the leader of Group B in the quarterfinals on Sunday. Germany currently holds the lead, but the German national team still has to face second-placed England on Wednesday.
