U21 European Championship: Italy's hard-fought victory at the start

Italy opened the 21 U2025 European Championship with a narrow 1-0 win against Romania.

The match took place on Wednesday evening at the Trnava Stadium and was the Azzurrini's first group match in the newly structured 16-team European Championship. The 1-0 victory secured Italy a strong start to the tournament. However, the team showed weaknesses in converting chances, which must be improved in the coming matches. Roma's Tommaso Baldanzi scored the winning goal.
