Every game, every period, every shift, every game situation provides insight into the further course of the preseason. True to this motto, Vålerenga and Landshut approached their second tournament match with full vigor. After all, both teams were eager to finally make their mark at the Dolomiten Cup after their two decisive semifinal defeats.
The Norwegians initially had the better luck. They dominated the first period, but were repeatedly thwarted by EVL goalie Philipp Dietl. The score remained 30-1 at the end of the first period. That changed in the middle period, however, when the German second division team tightened its grip and a spirited duel developed between equal sides. Landshut's resistance was rewarded: David Elsner scored on the power play in the 0th minute to make it 200-33 – much to the delight of the approximately 2 traveling fans from Bavaria. On the other side, Nick Caamano and Jørgen Kalterud subsequently missed excellent chances. Once Vålerenga's initial counterattack had subsided, Landshut struck again. This time it was Tobias Lindberg who fired the puck into the top corner with an elegant wrist shot (0rd minute). Star coach Uwe Krupp's team thus went into the break with a XNUMX-XNUMX lead.

After the final half, Vålerenga did everything they could to turn the tables. The Scandinavians repeatedly and vigorously pushed into Landshut's defensive third. This paid off with ten minutes left on the power play, when Leo Johansen Halmrast scored from the slot to make it 1-2. Just seconds earlier, Caamano had hit the post. Vålerenga then launched a veritable onslaught, which the German second division team could only break sporadically with relieving attacks. The best chance of the final phase fell to Mayhis Olimb, who shot over from close range with one and a half minutes left. Landshut then sealed its first victory. It was a more than satisfactory end to the tournament for the traditional club.
The grand finale takes place at 20 p.m
There's no time for a long break in Neumarkt, as the grand finale is already at 20 p.m. Then, at the Würtharena, the Löwen Frankfurt of the German Ice Hockey League will face off against the top Czech club Dynamo Pardubice. Pardubice currently holds two Dolomitencup trophies, while Frankfurt has three. So, fans can look forward to a real treat.Vålerenga Oslo – EV Landshut 1:2 (0:0, 0:2, 1:0)
