Although the next Überetsch derby between SV Kaltern and HC Eppan is still seven days away, the excitement is already building. Both teams warmed up for the derby on Saturday: Eppan triumphed 4-3 in Pergine, while Kaltern thrashed Aosta 4-1.
The Pirates took the lead after just 40 seconds, before import player Curtis Roach made it 2-0. The hosts narrowed the gap to 2-1 before the end of the first period, but Roach again restored the two-goal advantage. The final period was truly bizarre: Pergine first tied the game with two goals, before Tobias Morandell converted a penalty shot with just three seconds remaining – a 4-3 away win for Eppan.

The Kaltern pike also had reason to celebrate. The opening period was evenly matched: After Mikael Henri Kalevi Saha gave them the lead, Aosta's Andrea Gesumaria equalized. In the second period, Matteo Cappuccio put Kaltern on the path to victory while they were shorthanded. Luca De Dona and Jonas Oberrauch then extended the lead – a 4-1 home win for Kaltern.Matteo Cappuccio scored Kaltern's temporary 2-1 lead. © Max Pattis
In a relegation battle, bottom-of-the-table 3 Zinnen Dolomites defeated their neighbors from Feltre 3-0. Despite the victory, the Puster Valley team cannot escape the wooden spoon. Brixen Falcons had no luck, losing 3-6 at home to Alleghe. The second period proved disastrous, with the Eisack Valley team conceding four goals in just under four minutes.
