The 372 spectators in the Raiffeisen Arena didn't have to wait long; the first goal of the evening was scored after just 54 seconds: Matthias Castlunger put HC Eppan in front in their brilliant 6-4 victory over SV Kaltern, thus opening the scoring. After 38 minutes, the score was 5-0 – and yet the game was still exciting. Joonas Oskari Alanne initiated a comeback, but Jagger Williamson nipped it in the bud with a 6-3 goal a few minutes before the end. Michael Sölva could only score the final goal.
For Kaltern, it was a great opportunity to take first place in the standings. After all, their rivals, Varese (1:6 against Alleghe) and Feltre (2:5 against Aosta), suffered heavy defeats. Alleghe and Aosta, however, took advantage of the trio's slip-ups, turning the tide in the standings and now leading by one point.
Brixen fails in overtime
The Falcons from Brixen were rewarded with a point for their efforts in their 2-3 home loss to the Valpellice Bulldogs. The Eisacktal team squandered a 1-0 lead, but equalized in the second period through Gabriel Lanz to make it 2-2. They ultimately lost in overtime, with Veeti Vuorio scoring twice to make it 2-3 for the visitors (63:52).Another South Tyrolean club, HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites, was also denied a win. The Eisbären lost away to Hockey Pergine and remain bottom of the table with no points after four defeats in four games.
