Heads hung low among the Toblach players. They can't climb out of the relegation zone.
Even the new savior can't help with that.
On Thursday, IHL club Toblach presented a prominent new signing. He is expected to bring about the long-awaited upswing. However, just a few hours later, they suffered another defeat in Alba di Canazei.

Vojtech Tomi is the name of the man HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites presented as their new forward on their social media channels. The former Czech youth international has already played in the top league of his home country and dominated the IHL last season during his stint in Cavalese. He tallied 44 points in 31 games – yet the 31-year-old forward remained without a club for months.
Tomi's task of leading Toblach to success failed, at least in his first attempt. Although the Czech scored in his debut match, Fassa, currently sixth in the table, ultimately prevailed 5-2 in front of around 300 spectators.

Patrick Mazzarini had scored the equalizer, Tom later reduced the deficit to 2:4, but Fassa had the outstanding player in his ranks that evening: The former KHL forward and now 41-year-old Andrii Mikhnov was unstoppable with two goals and one assist.
With this latest defeat, their ninth in ten competitive matches, Toblach remains stuck at the bottom of the table. The Puster Valley team's next match is on Saturday, a home game against Tomi's former club, Fiemme.
