Sölva's magic trick: Kaltern writes to

SV Kaltern achieved its first victory in the best-of-7 series against HC Aosta in the third game of the IHL final.

SV Kaltern suffered two bitter and narrow defeats against HC Aosta in the first two games of the IHL final. In the best-of-7 series on Thursday evening at the Raiffeisen Arena, the Hechte were looking to take the first step in the title final. They succeeded with a narrow victory—as is typical in this series. Kaltern won 3-2, thus securing their first important victory.

After the Überetschers had managed only one goal in the first two games, it seemed in the third game of the final series as if the predators had gradually adjusted to the Aostanians' highly organized defense. Against the physically present defense, Oskari Siiki (2:50) and later Raphael Felderer (10:42) found their way into the net in the first period. But the Gladiators held firm – Edgar De Toni scored to temporarily tie the game at 1:1.

Speaking of gladiators, Aosta once again demonstrated physical commitment, robust play, and hard-hitting checks on Thursday – but also had to spend 20 minutes in the penalty box. Kaltern, on the other hand, tried to capitalize on its running superiority and counter the physical domination of the visitors. Maximilian Sölva increased the lead to 3-1 – and did so with a truly rare and true stroke of genius: The Kaltern player managed a so-called Michigan trick, a lacrosse-style goal from behind the net (23.47:XNUMX).

Again it was close

But, as so often in this series, Aosta didn't give up. Matteo Luisetti finished off a spectacular combination move by the visitors to bring the score to 2-3 (28.38:XNUMX). In the final third, the Pikes also showed off their defensive qualities and threw everything into the mix to hold on to their narrow lead. In the end, the goddess of victory, Victoria, was on the South Tyrolean side this time – Kaltern finally managed to score in this final series.

The score is now 1:2 in the series, which continues on Saturday at 20 p.m. with Game 4 in Aosta.
