EBEL: HC Bozen delivers a spectacle in the ice wave

The ailing Zanette was missing from Bozen, while Hofer was not in the roster and Michael Sullmann made his debut with the Foxes. Spannring caused the first excitement in the Bozen Eiswelle, which was well attended by 4000 spectators, in the third minute when he tested Hübl with a shot, but he directed the target onto the post.

After that, Bolzano was allowed to play in the majority. Just as penalty time ended, the Foxes took the lead. Ouzas blocked an Insam shot short and Rodney then poked the puck over the line.

The Upper Austrians then played with one more man, but Bozen defended cleverly. As soon as the Talferstädters were full again, Insam slammed the puck onto the side netting (12th). HCB Südtirol continued to dominate the first half of the game. In the 17th minute, Galvins tried from the blue line, Pance deflected the puck but it went just wide of the goal.

The Black Wings only became more active in the final phase. First, Lebler tested Bozen's goalie Hübl before Moran failed to put the puck in the empty goal because Nesbitt threw himself into the shot.

Double strike from Keller and Pance

In the second half of the game, the hosts secured the preliminary decision with a double strike. First it was Keller who gave Ouzas the loss after a rebound (23'). And the MacAdam team's third goal just two minutes later was preceded by a shot - this time from Egger - that the Linz goalie couldn't hold on to and Pance had no trouble putting the target in the box.

Lukas could have scored the next goal straight away, but Hübl was the last stop (26th). On the other side, Ouzas was the winner in a duel with Schofield before Cullen found his match against the Linz goalkeeper from a tight angle.

In the final phase of the second third, Bozen received two penalties. First De Simone had to go down because of a stick strike, then Cullen was allowed to “rest” for two minutes because of delay of game. And this second outnumbered game was to take revenge, because Linz, who had to make do without the ailing Pichè, shortened the score through Murphy. He hammered Lebler's cross pass onto the post, from where it jumped into the net (38). Immediately afterwards the next penalty against the white and red, this time Egger was caught for hooking. But this outnumbered game ended without consequences.

Bolzano cannot close the bag prematurely

The final third began with a shot from Keller (42'). Linz also had two good opportunities, which Hisey and Spannring missed one after the other (46').

On the other hand, Ouzas had more trouble than he would have liked after an Insam hammer before Hübl took center stage again with a Hisey chance.

A little later, Hübl was beaten, but Spannring only hit the side netting from a tight angle (53'). Afterwards, Keller had to go into the cooler due to obstruction, but the Foxes touched concrete on defense.

The fists fly

In the final phase, emotions boiled over: first Iberer and Keller got into a fight, then Spannring and Oberdörfer let their fists do the talking.

70 seconds before the end, Ouzas went off the ice and Linz finally made it 2:3 shortly afterwards through Moran, who was the quickest after a poke. Now the guests had hope again, but there was still a narrow home win. This means that the home team also prevails in the eighth duel of the season.
