3 match winners, 3 goals, 3 points: Bolzano breathes a sigh of relief

For a week, the struggling Füchse struggled through the league and the Champions Hockey League – but now they're back! In the ICE home game against Fehérvár, there was a late resurgence.

It was a wild struggle, a do-or-die battle. But in the end, there was cause for celebration in the Bolzano Sparkasse Arena: HCB Südtirol Alperia defeated Fehérvár 3-0, thus returning to winning ways after three consecutive defeats across all competitions.

However, the 2.320 spectators (the lowest attendance for the season) had to be patient at first, as HCB's performance initially seemed to be slow. Coach Kurt Kleinendorst had reacted to the loss of Brad McClure, whose ongoing muscle injury was causing some problems again, by completely reorganizing the two starting blocks. This was probably one of the reasons why a decent attack was lacking for a long time.

You can rely on these three

Bolzano could count itself lucky to have a Sam Harvey between his posts. The Canadian celebrated his first shutout of the current ICE season, becoming one of three match winners.

Another guaranteed winner was one that no one had on their list that evening. Or rather, one that had already been written off in the summer, namely Enrico MiglioranziInitially planned as a reserve, the 34-year-old defender is now increasingly making his mark. His unstoppable attack and crisp finish opened the scoring in the 46th minute. After "Tanzi's" long-awaited goal – just his seventh in 205 ICE games – the spell was broken.

Miglioranzi was ultimately named Man of the Match, but this honor could have easily been Brett Pollock He provided the perfect assist for the 1-0 and then added another with a crisp shot under the crossbar.

The 3 key moments

The alarm clock is ringingAfter the opening period, Fehérvár should have been ahead. In the 12th minute, Nemeth deflected the puck onto the post. The clang against the Bozen post literally shook the previously sleepy Foxes awake, and from then on, they were the only ones on the offensive.
The air showAt the beginning of the final period, visiting goalie Horvath pulled off a save that will likely be replayed countless times in the net: With a dive, he threw himself into a shot from Schneider and parried it in an inimitable manner. It was, however, the harbinger of Bolzano's lead.
The goal rushBolzano shot 26 times at the opposing goal before the puck finally found the back of the net on the 27th attempt: Miglioranzi broke the spell in the 46th minute. After that, every shot suddenly seemed possible, as Pollock and Schneider also netted in the next five minutes. Now the Foxes were on a scoring spree.

With this win, the Foxes climb back to second place in the standings. They now have time to regain their sapped strength. Their next league game isn't until October 24, away at Innsbruck. HC Pustertal, on the other hand, hosts the Black Wings Linz this Sunday.
