Adam Helewka leaves HC Bozen.

HCB striker joins Villach

HC Bozen has announced a departure. Striker Adam Helewka is joining Villacher SV.

Villach continues to push ahead with its squad planning and brought on board an important building block for its future on Saturday. VSV used HC Bozen, who eliminated the Austrians in last season's playoff quarterfinals. Canadian Adam Helewka signed a two-year, performance-based contract with the Blue and Whites. Helewka brings "exactly the mix that the new VSV team relies on: game intelligence, physical presence, and reliability in both zones," according to the club's statement.

Helewka is considered a classic two-way forward, adept at both posing dangerously on offense and using his body effectively on defense. The 29-year-old made 44 appearances for HCB, contributing 15 goals and 21 assists – against his new employer, he totaled five goals and five assists in the playoffs. After just one season in South Tyrol, Helewka is now moving to Carinthia. "Adam is a complete player who will strengthen our game in many areas," enthused VSV Sports Director Herbie Hohenberger. "His stats speak for themselves, but even more important is his attitude: He's hungry, physically present, and has exactly the profile we were looking for."
