Florida Panthers on the verge of reaching the finals for the third time in a row

The reigning NHL champions Florida Panthers are just one win away from a third consecutive Stanley Cup Final.

On home ice in Sunrise, the Panthers beat Carolina 6-2 on Saturday and lead 3-0 in what's shaping up to be a showdown. Florida forced the game early in the final period with five goals in nine minutes.

The Hurricanes' gamble of putting Pyotr Kochetkov in goal instead of Frederik Andersen didn't pay off. After two strong first periods, the 25-year-old Russian goalie's performance slumped. Double-goal scorer Niko Mikkola was named MVP. The Finnish defenseman and his teammates have a chance to end this streak on Monday, also in Sunrise.
