Florida equalizes in NHL final series against Edmonton

The Florida Panthers have equalized the National Hockey League final series against the Edmonton Oilers.

The reigning Stanley Cup champions won 5-4 in the second overtime in Edmonton on Friday (local time), leveling the best-of-seven series at 1-1. Brad Marchand scored his second goal of the night in overtime to win the game for the Panthers. Game three of the series will take place on Monday in Florida.

The Oilers led 3-2 after the first period, with Leon Draisaitl scoring his tenth goal of this year's playoffs after some impressive assists from Connor McDavid. Florida countered in the middle period with goals from Dmitri Kulikow and Marchand, who finished off a shorthanded break. Edmonton had to wait a long time for an equalizer before 40-year-old Corey Perry struck with just 18 seconds left in regulation.

Marchand had a chance to score the winning goal in the first overtime, but he made it 8:05 into the second overtime. The Oilers, for their part, had won the opening game of the final series in overtime.
