NHL announces outdoor games in warm Florida

The world's best ice hockey league is bringing a double dose of outdoor games to the Sunshine State next season. These are absolute firsts.

The Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning will each host a regular outdoor game in 2025/26, the league announced on Wednesday.

The Panthers, the defending Stanley Cup champions, will play the New York Rangers on January 2 at loanDepot Park in Miami, home of the Miami Marlins baseball team. It will be the first time outdoor hockey has been played in Florida.

A month later, on February 1, the Lightning will face the Boston Bruins at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, where the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers usually play.
