Oilers goalie steals the show from Draisaitl

Edmonton's goalie Calvin Pickard stole the show from his teammates and superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid in the NHL away game against the Winnipeg Jets.

The Oilers' goalie shone in the 3-1 victory with 41 saves. The Canadian team leads the Pacific Division of the North American ice hockey league with 46 points.

"Calvin was fantastic today, clearly the best player," said coach Kris Knoblauch after the game. Max Jones, Jack Roslovic, and Zach Hyman scored for the Oilers. German national team player Draisaitl and McDavid were shut out this time. "We've won so many games thanks to Connor and Leon. Winnipeg did a good job today containing them," the Oilers coach analyzed the game.

Defeats for other German players

There was little to celebrate for the other German NHL teams. National team player Tim Stützle and the Ottawa Senators lost their home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets 1-4. JJ Peterka and the Utah Mammoth were defeated 3-4 by the Nashville Predators, despite a goal from the national team player. Coach Marco Sturm and his Boston Bruins also suffered a narrow 1-2 overtime loss to the Calgary Flames.

The Vancouver Canucks, on the other hand, celebrated a 3-2 road victory against the Seattle Kraken after a penalty shootout. Austrian Marco Rossi received almost 20 minutes of ice time for his new club, but remained scoreless despite three shots on goal.
