The NHL is becoming a big teenage show

The best league in the world is currently being enchanted by three teenagers: they are playing brilliantly.

In the North American ice hockey league NHL, the young stars are making their mark this season. Among the top five scorers are three of the league's most promising talents: Macklin Celebrini (19) of the San Jose Sharks, and the 20-year-olds Connor Bedard (Chicago Blackhawks) and Leo Carlsson (Anaheim Ducks). Celebrini added three assists in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Utah Mammoth and already has 40 points.

40 points in just 27 games is a historic milestone for a teenager. At such a young age, only Wayne Gretzky (in 24 games in 1980) and Sidney Crosby (26 games in 2006) reached that mark faster than the number one pick of the 2024 draft.

Bedard (37 points) and Carlsson (36), the first and second overall picks in the 2023 draft, are also in excellent form. Alongside this young trio, the two veterans Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche, 44 points) and Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers, 36) lead the scoring race.
