The arena hosted the ice hockey events during the Winter Olympics in February. Police have seized documents to investigate the so-called "extra costs" for the ice hockey arena.
The arena was originally intended to be built by the German private company Eventim, which also owns the ticket provider TicketOne, without public funding. Due to increased construction costs, Eventim subsidiary Evd Milan Srl, according to media reports, applied for an additional €134 million in public financing. A technical review by the city administration had estimated a lower amount of just over €50 million.
The investigation aims to determine whether public funds were unduly burdened, Italian media reported. No criminal charges have been filed so far.
