World Cup in Switzerland: Italy knows its opponents

The groups of the upcoming top-division Ice Hockey World Championship, which will take place in Switzerland from May 15 to 31, 2026, were officially announced by the IIHF on Wednesday.

Italy will play in Group B at the BCF Arena in Fribourg, Switzerland, a 9.000-seat arena built in 2020. It is the home of HC Fribourg-Gottéron. The Azzurri will face Canada, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovakia, Norway, and Slovenia.

Group A, which will be played at the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich, features world champions USA, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Austria, Hungary, and Great Britain. The schedule will be drawn over the course of the summer.
