Sinner after reaching the semifinals: “I am very happy”

Jannik Sinner advanced to the semifinals of the French Open on Wednesday afternoon with a three-set victory over Alexander Bublik (KAZ). Afterwards, the South Tyrolean commented on the victory—and the task ahead.

Jannik Sinner will face Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the French Open. Serb defeated Alexander Zverev and is now dueling with the South Tyrolean.

Sinner himself had his semi-final entry (6:1, 7:5, 6:0) little trouble. Bublik was only able to keep pace in the second set, and even received the maximum penalty in the third set, losing 0-6. After 1.47 hour and XNUMX seconds, Sinner converted his first match point to win. In the subsequent interview, the Sextner said: "With him, you never know what's going to happen, so I focused on my game and tried to play consistently and serve well. I managed both of those things, so I'm very happy."

One thing is already certain: Sinner has a few hours more time to recover than his upcoming opponent. Nevertheless, the Pustertal native says: "Semifinal matches at Grand Slams are always very special. It will definitely be another great match, hopefully I'll be ready," Sinner said. A win would mark his 20th consecutive Grand Slam match victory.
