As the Swiss skier, wearing bib number 14, pushed out of the starting gate, conditions had deteriorated significantly compared to the start of the race: strong winds, heavy snowfall, and poor visibility made things difficult for the athletes. Franjo von Allmen, as usual, risked life and limb, but paid for it with a crash.
After the steep starting slope, the 24-year-old slipped on a right-hand turn and crashed into the safety netting. Von Allmen initially lay motionless, but then got up and skied to the finish line. There, the Swiss Ski Federation quickly gave the all-clear: he had not suffered any serious injuries, but had sustained severe bruising.

After the Swiss skier's crash, the race was interrupted for about half an hour until the weather conditions improved somewhat. However, the Super-G was not completed. Following the crash of Loic Meillard, who wore bib number 31, race director Markus Waldner decided to abandon the race. The victory in Beaver Creek went to the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr, who relegated the Norwegian Frederik Møller and his compatriot Raphael Haaser to second and third place. Dominik Paris narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth by 12 hundredths of a second.
