Kristoffersen holds all the trump cards

After the first run, Henrik Kristoffersen, the leader of the Slalom World Cup, holds all the cards at the final in Sun Valley (USA).

Kristoffersen is in third place after the first run, trailing the leader, fellow countryman Timon Haugan, by just 3 hundredths of a second. Frenchman Clement Noel, who still has an outside chance of winning the small crystal globe, is in between. For that to happen, however, Noel would have to win and Kristoffersen would have to score no points.

Second in the Slalom World Cup, Loic Meillard, didn't have a good first run and is currently only in seventh place. The Swiss is already 7 seconds behind the leader. Kristoffersen currently has a 1,68-point lead over Meillard. This means that if the Norwegian can make it through, the Swiss should win the race. In that case, Kristoffersen would have to finish third to defend his lead.

Alex Vinatzer competed despite a bruised boot rim in the difficult conditions and lost just over three seconds with bib number 17. The slalom final in Sun Valley begins at 20 p.m. After that, the 2024/25 ski season will be over. There will also be an exciting battle for the slalom globe in the women’s race shortly before.
