After second place: Lara Gut-Behrami is completely annoyed

Lara Gut-Behrami was one of the big protagonists in the Super-G in Kvitfjell and took second place. Nevertheless, the Swiss skier was furious afterwards.

The statistics are impressive. Lara Gut-Behrami took her 98th podium place in the World Cup on Sunday in Kvitfjell. This proves that the Swiss is an absolute exception in the skiing world. Gut-Behrami should actually have after second place in the Super-G in Kvitfjell So we had to shine as brightly as the sun. But the opposite was the case.

“I am not satisfied at all,” she said in an interview with SRF and caused astonished faces in front of the TV screens. Instead of being happy about her eighth podium finish this winter, Gut-Behrami was hard on herself. "It's starting to annoy me because I keep making mistakes - the whole season. It's my own fault, but it annoys me. I lost eight tenths in the middle section, so I could have done a bit better."

“I can’t be happy about this second place.” Lara Gut-Bahrami

Gut-Behrami, who was only six hundredths of a second behind winner Federica Brignone, continued to rant: "I can't be happy about this second place because I've been making mistakes all season. I haven't been skiing badly all season, but I lack the consistency to ski without making mistakes. I'm standing cleanly on the skis, everything was on track, even though I was off the line. That's what saved me." Gut-Behrami, a full-time professional, is already looking ahead. "What still motivates me is what I can still improve. I'm just not someone who gets satisfied quickly."

A runner-up who is furious – that's not something you see every day. But it suits the perfectionist Lara Gut-Behrami. If the Swiss athlete wasn't so wired, she would probably never have made it this far.
