Pircher released by the Seahawks: What now?

Maximilian Pircher still has to wait for his first appearance in the National Football League (NFL). The Brixen native was released by the Seattle Seahawks.

Maximilian Pircher made it to the NFL in 2021 through the so-called International Player Pathway Program (IPPP). In his first year, the 25-year-old won the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams. Pircher got his first taste of NFL football in the Californians' jersey during the pre-season. However, the South Tyrolean was denied a regular season appearance, which is why he moved to the Detroit Lions last year - in the hope of being able to collect playing time.

The adventure with the Lions lasted only one season. Pircher moved to the Seattle Seahawks this year and said in SportNews-Interview: “I will give it my all so that I can play and help the team as much as possible.” A new rule regarding squad places was supposed to help. But now everything turned out differently.

What are the next steps?

Pircher was released from the practice squad by the Seahawks - even though, as an IPPP player, he does not burden the contingent of this training group. His place was taken by Nigerian Kenneth Odumegwu. What led to the separation is unclear. But one thing is certain: the offensive lineman's future is more uncertain than ever.
