Ambrì Piotta takes third place at the DolomitenCup

In front of well-filled spectator stands, Ambrì Piotta did everything in her power to make people forget the unfortunate semi-final defeat against Augsburg and to give the fans who traveled with them a sense of achievement. Lorenskog held on bravely, but was rarely able to hold a candle to the Ticino team, who were qualitatively superior. Consequently, the blue-whites took the lead in the 8th minute through Alexandre Giroux. The 33-year-old Canadian circled around the opposing goalkeeper and skillfully pushed the puck in. At this point Ambrì was even outnumbered. A little later, Giroux, who was in a great mood, was once again the center of attention when he hit the post and made him take notice. On the other side, Olsson's long-range shot failed to hit the goalposts. This was one of the few offensive actions by the Scandinavians, who had to accept the second goal from Daniel Steiner before the first break.

Ambrì only really got a taste for it, because at the beginning of the middle period Paolo Duca directed the puck into the net to make it 3-0. Plante then made room for Svendsen in the Lorenskog box, but he couldn't stop the Swiss offensive wave either. Especially not when they were on the power play. In the 34th minute, Giroux converted a power-number situation into a 4-0 lead. However, he wasn't to be the only double goalscorer, as Steiner also scored again in the second third and continued the scoring streak with a 5-0 lead. Ambrì goalie Flückinger was only tested when Olsson shot.

In the final section, the Swiss let the reins slide a little, but without ever running the risk of giving up their secure lead. Lorenskog took advantage of the open spaces that were available; to score for the first time through Wacey Rabbit. The Canadian center was there again shortly before the end and reduced the score to 2:5. After that, however, Ambrì Piotta's soup was served and a conciliatory conclusion to the DolomitenCup was assured. The honor as “best player” went to Petter Gronstad (Lorenskog) and Reto Kobach (Ambrì Piotta).
