Three top-class test matches await the HCB Südtirol

The EBEL Championship, which is currently on pause due to the Olympic Games, will resume in around a week. On February 23rd, HCB Südtirol will face Orli Znojmo away from home and the Füchse want to prepare for this date as best as possible in the meantime. As part of its eightieth anniversary, the club from the state capital is playing a total of three top-class test matches in the Bolzano Eiswelle. The first is on Saturday, February 15th. At 20.30 p.m. Egger and Co. will meet the players from Lugano, who are currently fourth in the table in the highest Swiss championship, the LNA, in the “Feldschlösschen Cup”.

The team from Ticino is coached by Patrick Fischer and will all compete in Bolzano, as none of the players will be in action at the Olympic Games. South Tyrolean Diego Kostner also wears the black and white jersey. However, his team in Bolzano will most likely have to do without him as he has not yet fully recovered from his foot injury.

Numerous stars of the Swiss championship play in the Lugano ranks, such as top scorer Brett McLean from Canada (18 goals and 25 assists) and striker Jacob MicFlikier. Coach Fischer, however, is supported in his work as head coach by a former Bolzano defender, namely the Swede Peter Andersson, who won the championship with the white-reds in the 1996-97 season. The Bolzano team will play in full against Lugano, with the exception of Ziga Pance (on duty with Slovenia in Sochi).

Three-way tournament against Yugra Khanthy (KHL) and Rouen

The Bolzano team's test match series will continue next week. From Tuesday 18th to Thursday 20th February, the Eiswelle will be the venue for a three-way tournament between the Foxes, Yugra Khanthy (Russia) and Rouen (France). The strongest team is certainly the Russians, who play in the East Conference of the second most important championship in the world, the KHL. The team from Khanty-Mansiysk is currently in eleventh place in the table. The team's stars include the two attackers Mikhaill Zhukov and Vitali Sitnikov. Rouen should already be known to Bolzano fans. The White and Reds have faced the French champions three times. The Talferstadt team prevailed at the Six Nations tournament in the 1994-95 season - thanks to a 7-6 win in the second leg in France. The Füchse also had the upper hand in the Super Final of the Continental Cup in 2009 (3-1 win). Last year, also in the Super Final of the Continental Cup, the French brought the people of Bolzano to their knees 6-1. In France, the “Dragons” have won the last five championships and are still in first place after the regular round this season. The number one in the French team is undoubtedly striker and captain Marc-Andrè Tinel.
