Christian Walcher: 500 games in the red and white dress

How will you feel going into the game against Alleghe on Saturday? It's something special because such a big anniversary doesn't happen to me every day. If I'm honest, I didn't even think about it until a few weeks ago. When I think about it now, I realize how long I've been here and that I'm not necessarily getting any younger.

Is there a particular game that you remember particularly fondly? Certainly the fourth game in the Bolzano Eiswelle in the 2007 final against Ritten, which we won. That's what I remember best and for me the best moment in my career.

You have seen many players come and go in more than a decade at Bozen. Who did you get along particularly well with? What I remember best are the players with whom I won something. In my opinion, that's completely normal, because when you win, everything is always perfect. Roland Ramoser has always been a role model for me and I am still friends with him today. He lifted us up when we were down. When I was younger, I particularly fondly remember the time with the Omiccioli brothers, with whom we always had a lot of fun. And I'm also very happy that I had the honor and good fortune to play with the two Russians Vostrikov and Maslenikov when my career was in its early stages.

Which opponents do you remember most? I have seen many foreigners come and go. I had to play for a relatively long time against Chitarroni, Felicetti and Busillo. They had everything: they were good, experienced and knowledgeable.

Which trainer did you learn the most from? That was definitely Ron Kennedy, a coach from head to toe. We only had a short time working with him, but he was certainly the best we've ever had. Nothing was missing, he was a professional through and through. Respect, attitude, everything was just right.

What do you want from the future? I hope that I will become champion again. In the end, the only thing that counts is the title and winning the last game at the end of the season. And once you've achieved that, you'll want to savor that feeling again and again. That's what drives me too.

This is Christian Walcher: Christian Walcher is playing his 14th season in the HC Bozen jersey this year. The record champions extended the contract with the “number 3” for another year in August.

Christian Walcher (1,78 m x 84 kg) celebrated his Serie A debut with HC Bozen in 1997. Only once, in 2001, did he not play in the state capital, but for local rivals Ritten, where he scored 41 goals and 7 assists in 21 matches.

Walcher won the Italian championship title four times (1998, 2000, 2008 and 2009) with Bozen. He also won the Italian Cup three times in his career (2004, 2007 and 2009) and the Italian Super Cup (2005, 2008 and 2009). In total, he has so far achieved 499 scorer points in 148 championship games.

Last year, the 31-year-old striker was “only” able to play 32 games due to an injury. On November 18, 2010, he injured his hand in the South Tyrolean derby against Ritten after being hit with a stick by Kevin Baker and had to take a break for two months. Nevertheless, he scored 14 points (4 goals and 10 assists).
