Cullen shoots the HCB to victory against Linz

HCB Südtirol was able to rely on Stefan Zisser, who has recovered from a back injury, at short notice. This allowed Coach Simioni to operate with four offensive blocks. However, Nessbitt remained on the bench for the time being because he didn't feel 100 percent fit. Zanette took his place on the second line.

Linz started strong and after just ten seconds the ex-Bolzano player Piché tried, but he couldn't get past Hübl and only hit the outside post. After that, the white and reds controlled the game, but the guests repeatedly appeared dangerous in front of the Bolzano box.

The home team only had their first chance in the tenth minute when Cullen fed Frank after a quick counterattack, but his shot was too central. After that the game petered out again and top chances remained in short supply until the half-time break.

The second third also ended goalless

The rhythm of both teams remained high in the second half of the game. Little changed in the plot: Linz dictated what happened on the ice, but the Talferstadt team made the space in front of their box narrow. And the Foxes remained dangerous on the counterattack. Cullen served Oberdörfer exemplary, but his shot went just wide (24'). Hübl was immediately on the spot when Linz counterattacked (25'), before Schofield deflected a shot from Oberdörfer, but Ouzas was able to save with his mask (27').

After a little more than half an hour, the Bolzano team could have taken the lead when they were outnumbered, but Bernard was too stubborn. As a result, the home team pulled themselves out of the loop twice when they were outnumbered and almost took the lead themselves through Insam and Keller. In the final phase, De Simone and Lee missed a double chance (37th).

Schofield puts the home team in the lead

The final third, in which Galvins no longer played due to a muscle injury, began with a bang, as Schofield gave the home team the lead after 65 seconds. Shortly afterwards, Zanette could have made the preliminary decision when he rushed towards Ouzas alone, but got stuck on the goalie.

On the other hand, the guests did better. Oullette caught Hübl cold through the leg guards in the 47th minute. And just three minutes later, Kozek was even able to take the lead in the power play for Linz, who lost out to Hübl with a precise wrist shot.

But Bolzano didn't give up and was finally rewarded. Cullen fed Insam, who shot in from the tightest angle for the much-celebrated equalizer (58').

It went into overtime. And there Mark Cullen made the decision in favor of the Foxes.

Cullen shoots the HCB to victory against Linz

Second home game within 48 hours, second home win for the Foxes. The Foxes followed up the 4-1 win against the Graz 99ers on Friday with a 3-2 win after extra time against the Black Wings Linz on Sunday. The best thing about it: sixth place is again within reach for the EBEL champion.
