Dolomites Cup: Rögle takes third place

It was a duel of opposites that took place on Sunday afternoon in the Neumarkt stadium. On the one hand, the Augsburg Panthers, who took part in the Dolomites Cup for the tenth time and have already won five tournaments. On the other hand, Rögle BK, which was the first Swedish team to take part in the prestigious preparatory tournament in the south of South Tyrol. The fact that the victory ultimately went to the Scandinavians was largely due to goalie Petr Kvaca, who helped Rögle win with a shutout and made some outstanding saves.

Just wait and see? Not with the Augsburger Panther and Rögle BK. The two teams went at full speed from the first second and didn't give each other an inch on the Würtarena ice. Less than two minutes had passed when the doorbell rang. After Rögle's energetic puck win, the puck went to former NHL crack Dennis Everberg, who gave Augsburg goalie Markus Keller a few meters in front of the goal.

In the second section, the decent pace was also accompanied by a good portion of spiciness. The pace on the ice became harder (Rögles Samuel Jonsson had to leave the ice due to an injury after a check), the pack formations became more frequent, the coolers were full - and the 827 fans in the Würtarena became louder. But the two goalkeepers provided the big show in this third: Rögles Kvaca thwarted Chris Collins' great chance to equalize with a monster save (32nd), while Augsburg's Keller proved with several strong saves that he is still in great shape even at 34 years old .

Rögle had now completely taken control of the game and hardly gave the Augsburg team any time to catch their breath. The result? The Swedes struck twice. First, Adam Tambinelli placed the disc directly into the Augsburg box (43'), then Albin Sundsvik outnumbered the opposing goalie in a small space and thus secured the final score of 3-0. Despite the defeat, Augsburg's passionate fans celebrated for minutes after the match - once again there were goosebumps in Neumarkt.
