Innsbruck provides an ICE first

The Innsbruck Sharks have signed Yushiroh Hirano, the first Japanese player in the ICE Ice Hockey League.

The 28-year-old striker is coming to Tyrol from the US team Adirondack Thunder in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The Innsbruck team announced this on Monday. "He is a big, strong skater, physically strong and has a good shot," said Innsbruck head coach Jordan Smotherman about the Japanese team player.
