Ingolstadt knocks Salzburg out of the CHL

ICE Hockey Club Red Bull Salzburg has been eliminated in the round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League.

A 4-3 victory at home on Wednesday evening in the ice arena against ERC Ingolstadt in front of 2.931 spectators wasn't enough, as the first leg against the DEL top club had ended in a 2-6 defeat. South Tyrolean defenseman Peter Spornberger played on Ingolstadt's third line. Salzburg's focus is now on the league, where the Bulls are currently only in seventh place.

Salzburg took the lead against Ingolstadt after a cautious start through a goal by Brandon Coe (6th minute), before Austen Keating equalized (16th minute). Nash Nienhuis (16th minute), Travis St. Denis (38th minute) and Mario Huber (54th minute) then secured the home victory, while Philipp Krauß (50th minute) and Daniel Schmölz (56th minute) added further goals for the visitors.
