Azzurre in action: Latvia as the venue for the Women's World Cup

Italy's women's national ice hockey team is about to start the World Cup. The 1st Division B World Championship will take place in Latvia's capital Riga from Sunday.

The women's top division World Cup will take place in the USA this year (April 3-14). The Italian team is not there because they are currently (still) playing in the third-tier 1st Division B. This World Cup begins with 6 teams on Easter Sunday in Riga (Latvia). The game is played in the “Volvo Sporta Centrs”, which has a capacity of around 1000 spectators.

The Azzurre are led by head coach Stephanie Poirier and will play their opening game against Great Britain (11.30 a.m.). The last experience with the British ended well for Italy, as the Azzurre won 4-2 in a four-nation tournament in Sweden in February.

The Azzurre program
