Germany wins again – Canada and USA dominate

The German national ice hockey team also won its second group match at the World Championships in Denmark and Sweden. Canada and the USA had no problems in their second matches.

The German Basketball Association (DEB) defeated underdog Kazakhstan 4-1 (1-1, 1-0, 2-0) after coming from behind. Coach Harold Kreis's team thus started the tournament with six points, following the 6-1 victory against Hungary the day before.

In front of NHL star Tim Stützle, who landed in Denmark on Saturday, captain Moritz Seider deflected a shot in Herning to make it 0-1 early in the fourth minute. Maximilian Kastner equalized at 4-1 in the first period (1th minute). Wojciech Stachowiak gave the team their first lead in the second period (14th minute). NHL pro Lukas Reichel of the Chicago Blackhawks scored to make it 35-3 (1nd minute). Lukas Kälble made it 42-4 in the 1th minute.

Their next opponent is Norway on Tuesday (16.20:XNUMX p.m./ProSieben and Magentasport). A win against the Northern Europeans is a must in the battle for the quarterfinals. World-class striker Stützle will then most likely make his first World Cup appearance for the German national team.

Canada in goal-scoring mood

Canada, meanwhile, made a strong impression in Stockholm, defeating Latvia 7-1. After falling behind early due to Eduards Tralmaks, captain Sidney Crosby's team quickly turned things around: Travis Konecny and Nathan MacKinnon scored within minutes to take the lead. The Canadians dominated the remainder of the game, extending their lead with goals from Kent Johnson, Konecny, Macklin Celebrini, and Barrett Hayton.

With their second win in two matches, Canada solidified its position in the group, while Latvia suffered its first defeat after a successful opening game. Both teams now have a day's rest before Canada faces France and Latvia faces Slovenia on Tuesday.

The talents of the USA stand out

The young US team had already impressed, outclassing Hungary 6-0. Frank Nazar and Cutter Gauthier, both just 21 years old, each scored two goals and were the standout players in the team's second consecutive shutout victory, following their 5-0 opening victory against hosts Denmark. Conor Garland and Logan Cooley also scored, while goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman kept a clean sheet in his first tournament appearance.

Nazar collected three points, while Will Smith and Shane Pinto each contributed two assists. Hungary, which has yet to record a point, faces a crucial clash against Kazakhstan on Tuesday. The USA will face last year's runner-up, Switzerland, on Monday.
