Canada remains flawless, Hungary surprises
There was no sensation in the David-and-Goliath duel at the Ice Hockey World Championships. Title contender Canada defeated France in what was, at times, a comfortable game. At the same time, Hungary took a big step toward staying in the league.

The Canadians maintain their maximum points tally after three matches in Group A thanks to their 5-0 win. The French have one point and are now behind Austria (2). Slovenia remains pointless, losing 6-2 to the efficient Latvians (5) on Tuesday afternoon.
Sidney Crosby also added his first goal of the World Cup to his tally with three assists. "Captain Canada" scored on the power play to make it 3-0. New York Islanders top scorer Bo Horvat scored twice and now has four goals, while St. Louis goalie Jordan Binnington celebrated a shutout in his first game. The record world champions were once again safe overall, conceding just one goal before Thursday's match against Austria (20.20:XNUMX p.m.).
Germany and the hole in the ice
Germany also won its third match in Group B. Following a 6-1 victory over newly promoted Hungary and a 4-1 win against Kazakhstan, the Germans followed up on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory against Norway. A deep hole near the boards led to two extended game interruptions. First, the teams were sent to an early break in the first period, and later, play was stopped again in the second period until the ice maintenance staff had repaired the damaged surface. Now, the Germans face duels with the top nations of Switzerland, the USA, and the world champions Czech Republic. This evening, Hungary defeated Kazakhstan 4-2, taking a major step toward staying in the league.
