Detroit Red Wings: As brilliant as in the past

Traditional NHL club Detroit Red Wings has extended its winning streak to six wins and increased its chances of taking part in the playoffs.

In the 8-3 home win against the Washington Capitals, the eleven-time Stanley Cup winner scored more goals in a game than he had in seven years. Man of the game in front of almost 20.000 enthusiastic spectators at Little Caesers Arena was defender Shayne Gostisbehere, who contributed two goals to the victory.

“We found our identity as a team and figured out what worked and what didn’t. We find ways to win games,” said double-header Shayne Gostisbehere. “This will also be important in the next few weeks.”

The young team around defender Moritz Seider and attacker Lucas Raymond, who scored three points with one goal and two assists, is hoping for its first playoff participation after seven years without a place in the knockout round. The success against the direct competitor from the US capital was therefore particularly valuable. The Red Wings remain one of the hottest teams in the league and lead the wild card race in the Eastern Conference.
