This German is on the verge of becoming an NHL star

When German stars are mentioned in the NHL, Leon Draisaitl's name is usually the first one that comes to mind. But the Oilers star is not the only German capable of strong performances.

German national ice hockey player JJ Peterka delivered his best performance of the NHL season so far. He put on a spectacular show in his Utah Mammoth's 7-0 (2-0, 2-0, 3-0) road victory against the Anaheim Ducks: The 23-year-old was the standout player on the ice with two goals and two assists.

Peterka scored in the second period to make it 4-0 and in the third to make it 6-0. It was the forward's second brace of the season; Peterka had only recorded four points in a single game once before in his five-year NHL career.

Peterka joined the Utah Mammoth this summer after four years with the Buffalo Sabres. The Mammoth were founded in 2024 and are playing their second season in the NHL. The Salt Lake City team's 7-0 victory was their first win after four consecutive losses.
