Edmonton breathes a sigh of relief: McDavid has signed

Ice hockey superstar Connor McDavid has extended his contract with the Edmonton Oilers for two more years, until 2028, shortly before the start of the season. However, the expected record salary is not included.

According to club information, the captain of the traditional Canadian NHL club receives an average annual salary of 12,5 million US dollars.

This puts McDavid in the overall salary rankings behind his teammate Leon Draisaitl (14 million) and the Russian Kirill Kaprizov, who signed a record contract worth 17 million annually just last week.

The 28-year-old Canadian, considered by many to be the best in the world, has played for the Oilers since 2015. Led by McDavid and his congenial partner Draisaitl, Edmonton has recently reached the Stanley Cup Final twice, losing to Florida on both occasions.
