Florida Panthers open NHL season with home win

The defending NHL champions opened the new season with a home win.

The Florida Panthers secured a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks after the championship ceremony last season. The Panthers came back from behind to score the winning goal in the final period through Jesper Boqvist.

The Florida team won the Stanley Cup in each of the past two seasons by defeating the Edmonton Oilers. They aim to win the title for the third time in a row this season. The Oilers begin the season with a home game against the Calgary Flames on Thursday night (CEST).
