Oilers lose – Senators beat Wild

In the North American professional ice hockey league NHL, the Edmonton Oilers have suffered their second narrow home defeat in a row.

Connor McDavid's team lost 3:4 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. After their shootout defeat against the Detroit Red Wings (2:3), the Oilers also slept through the opening phase against Toronto and were already 12:50 behind after 0:3 minutes.

By the middle of the last third, the hosts had reduced the score to 3:4 and even scored what appeared to be an equalizer through German star player Leon Draisaitl two minutes before the end of regular time. However, the goal was disallowed due to an offside position by defender John Klingberg. After 52 games, the Edmonton Oilers are in third place in the Western Conference.

Senators defeat Minnesota Wild

With a strong performance, the Ottawa Senators secured their fourth win in a row. The Canadians won against the Minnesota Wild with a clear 6:0. With their 28th win in 52 games, Ottawa has moved up to sixth place in the East and is on course for the playoffs. "Embarrassing, inferior, terrible," said Minnesota striker Mats Zuccarello after a botched evening.

With only three points less, the Detroit Red Wings are currently in tenth place in the Eastern Conference. The team, which started off weakly, celebrated its fifth win in a row with a 3-1 victory against the Calgary Flames.
