One week after the Vorarlberg native moved from Minnesota to Canada in a blockbuster trade, the Canucks won 4-1 against the strong home team, the New York Islanders, on Long Island. Rossi logged over 19 minutes of ice time this time.
Left winger Kiefer Sherwood and goaltender Thatcher Demko were the Canucks' match-winners. The 30-year-old Sherwood scored his third NHL hat trick, and Demko only had to pick the puck out of his net once, on 23 shots from the home team, to make it 3-1.
Before the trade, Vancouver, sitting at the bottom of the NHL standings, trailed a playoff spot by eight points. They have since overtaken the Seattle Kraken and the Nashville Predators, reducing the gap to six points. New additions Zeev Buium, Liam Öhgren, and Rossi have played a significant role in this turnaround, as goaltender Demko confirmed: "We're integrating them into our system, and they're playing well. They should continue like this." The Canucks face Boston on Saturday and the Philadelphia Flyers two days later.
