Goal and assist: NHL goalie makes history

Ice hockey goalie Alex Nedeljkovic of the Pittsburgh Penguins has achieved something in the NHL that no one has ever done before in this sport.

The 29-year-old became the first goalkeeper in league history to record a goal and an assist in one game in his team's 5-2 away win against the Buffalo Sabres.

First, Nedeljkovic set up Cody Glass's 3-1 goal, and in the final phase he scored the final goal with a goal into the Sabres' empty net.

"I've always enjoyed playing with the puck" Alex Nedeljkovic

Nedeljkovic is only the 16th goalie in the NHL to score a goal. "It's really exciting," said the 29-year-old. "I've always enjoyed playing with the puck." Aside from scoring points, he also impressed in his core role, making an impressive 40 saves.

For the Penguins, it was the first win after three recent defeats. The Sabres, who have suffered 13 consecutive defeats this season, remain bottom of the Eastern Conference.
