Master Ritten confirms defense

Christian Borgatello is entering his third season on the Ritten. The 34-year-old grew up in the youth teams of HC Meran. From 1999 to 2004 he made 186 appearances and 50 points (13 goals and 37 assists) with the Merano team in the top Italian league. When the Merano team decided not to take part in Serie A again for financial reasons, Borgatello moved abroad for the first time to the Dundee Stars in Scotland and the Basingstoke Bison to the English elite league. In 2005 he returned to Italy and immediately became Italian champions with Milan. In 92 championship games for the Vipers Milan he had 39 points (12 goals and 27 assists). In 2007 he moved to HC Bozen and won the championship title and the Supercup with the White-Reds. The following year he even achieved the triple with the championship, the Italian Cup and the Supercup. At the end of the season he was named the best Italian player in the entire Serie A. In the summer of 2011, “Skizzo” took the plunge into the EBEL. After 19 games, one goal and three assists, he turned his back on SAPA Fehervar AV19 and rejoined the HCB, where he became champion again. In the 2012/13 season, Borgatello won the Supercup with Bozen and made it to the Final Four of the Continental Cup. Borgatello played a total of 275 championship games for the HCB and scored 181 points (26 goals and 155 assists).

Six championship titles Three years ago the Burggräfler finally moved to the Puster Valley. With the Wolves, Borgatello played 58 championship games in which he recorded six goals and 28 assists before moving to Ritten in 2014. In the Buam jersey, Borgatello collected 111 points (95 goals and 14 assists) in 81 championship appearances. With Ritten he won the Italian Cup in 2015 and his sixth championship title last year (after 1999 with Meran, 2006 with Milan and 2008, 2009 and 2012 with Bolzano).

Second season for Fabian Ebner Fabian Ebner is ten years younger than Borgatello, but was already a mainstay in the Rittner backline last year. In his A2 debut season 2010/11 in Eppan, the trained striker was called back from the attack to the defensive, where he delivered consistently good performances from the start. In his 293 competitive games so far in Serie A, A2 and INL, Ebner has scored 133 points. Last year he scored 55 goals and 5 assists in 19 championship games and made a significant contribution to the “Buam” title win. It was already his second title on the Ritten, as he also made two appearances on the Ritten in the 2013-14 season thanks to the farm team rule with Eppan.

The three 21-year-olds: Tauferer, Ploner and Alber The three local 21-year-olds Ivan Tauferer, Max Ploner and Andreas Alber were also confirmed. All three grew up in Ritten and always played for their regular team. Three years ago they became Italian champions with the U20 team, then they won both the Serie A twice (2014 and 2016) and the Italian Cup (2014 and 2015) with the first team. The tall Tauferer (1,92 m x 95 kg) made 133 appearances in Serie A (5 goals and 20 assists), Andreas Alber played one game less (4 goals and 20 assists) and Max Ploner made 127 championship games (4 goals and 7 assists). Tauferer and Alber also celebrated their debut in the Italian senior national team last year.

David Ceresa wants to slow down David Ceresa, on the other hand, is leaving the “Buam”. He wants to slow down in the future. Ceresa has already played in Eppan, Fassa, Bozen and Ritten in his career. He became Italian champion with Bozen and Ritten and won the Serie A2 twice with Eppan. Ritten will be looking for a replacement for the 30-year-old defender in the next few weeks.

Master Ritten confirms defense

After signing goalkeeper Patrick Killeen, the Italian champions confirmed almost the entire defense on Thursday. Christian Borgatello, Fabian Ebner, Ivan Tauferer, Max Ploner and Andreas Alber have extended their contracts for another season, while David Ceresa is leaving the “Buam”.
